PEARL,MS (WDAM)-Sumrall has done something only two teams have ever done in Mississippi and that is to win four straight baseball titles. The Bobcats behind the pitching of Luke Lowery shutout Mooreville Thursday 8-0 to earn their 28th straight win in the postseason.
Lowery, a Southern Miss signee, did not allow a hit to Mooreville. Usually the first pitcher used by Coach Larry Knight in a series, the senior lefthander mixed a fastball along with a great breaking pitch to baffle the Troopers and record a no-hitter.
Sumrall's fourth consecutive championship ties the state record held by West Lauderdale (1992-95) and North Forrest (1983-1986). Under Larry Knight, Sumrall is 133-12 overall.
