Fire destroys home in Jones County

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) Firefighters from Jones County were unable to save a home along the 1800 block of Moselle-Ovett Road, five miles east of the Union community on Thursday afternoon.

Around 3 p.m., volunteer firefighters from Union arrived at the scene to find the home fully engulfed. The Ovett and Moselle Departments were then dispatched to assist. It took them about an hour to get it under control.

The occupants of the home were able to escape without injury and no firefighter was hurt fighting the blaze.

The Jones County Sheriff's Office is investigating the cause.
