"Ride of Silence" honors cyclists killed on city streets

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A small group of bicycle riders in Hattiesburg have joined others across the nation in a ride to remember those who've lost their lives while riding their bikes on city streets.

About one dozen riders took part in the nationwide, "Ride of Silence."  It's an annual event to bring attention to bicycle safety.

At 7 p.m. Wednesday, the Hub City riders left from the Longleaf Trace Gateway on a 2-mile ride through city streets.

The ride also ended at the Longleaf Trace.
