How Jones County authorities are cracking down on child porn

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Jones County Assistant District Attorney J. Ronald Parrish said a sex predator is someone who gets some kind of satisfaction out of watching children being abused or abusing children themselves.

Parrish said, he is sick of people abusing children for their own personal gratification.

Laurel Investigator Kevin Flynn agrees.  "Over time I think when somebody starts to download child porn, I really do think that they are interested in seeing what it is all about. But, I do believe, honestly, if they continue to view these images, and continue to download them, they will act out what they see.

But exactly how do authorities find out who's looking at child porn?

"There are all kinds of ways to track them, but I can't go into exactly how we track them," Flynn said.  "One of the things that we do when we go into these homes is compare the videos to the homes to see if anything in the video matches to anything inside the home.  We see if that film we watch, or them couple of films we watch have taken place there at that residence."

Flynn said in very few cases they are able to convict those featured in the videos.

"The problem with going after the people that are filming this is most of the adults have a mask over their heads, so you cannot identify them or their faces are never filmed."

And that is a problem that Parrish said he wants to take up with companies like Google.

"Why can't they censor all this child pornography that is my question to them, can you explain this to me please?" said Parrish.
