PRCC's class of 2011 celebrates Spring Commencement

HATTIESBURG, MS. (WDAM) - Pearl River Community College celebrated the class of 2011 Tuesday at the Forrest County Multi-Purpose Center in Hattiesburg.

The college graduated their largest class ever of nearly nine hundred students. About five hundred students participated in Tuesday's commencement exercises.

The graduates were inspired by South Mississippi business owner and community college graduate, W.B. "Dub" Herring of Picayune. Herring is the owner and President of Paw Paw's Campers and Cars.

During his address, Herring gave PRCC's class of 2011 some real world advice about what it takes to be a successful employee outside of the academic world.

According to Herring, "You know when you go into the workforce, it's not like being in school. You don't get spring breaks, you don't get semesters. I mean you know you have a real boss and they are not always like a teacher."

PRCC's President, William Lewis, said while the economy is a tough one for the graduates, he believes the job market is on the upswing.
