HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Republican candidates for local and state office spoke in Hattiesburg Saturday morning during a meeting of a recently-formed South Mississippi GOP organization. They addressed the Pine Belt Republican Club at Southern Miss.
The organization was formed just a couple of months ago. Candidates for several offices spoke, including those running for Public Service Commissioner, Commissioner of Agriculture and State Senate.
Candidate for goveror, Ron Williams, also addressed the club.
"My favorite part of all of this is when I get out in a parking lot or a shopping center and I get a chance to talk to folks and give them some information and they take a minute to share what they're dealing with," Williams said. "It's just a blessing to be able to hear what's on their mind and incorporate that into the plans we have for Jackson," said Williams.
The Republican Primary will be held Aug. 2.
