ELLISVILLE, MS (WDAM) - National Day of Prayer observance was held at noon Thursday at the Jones County Courthouse in Ellisville
Many folks from around the area joined thousands in the nationwide observance.
The day of prayer brings people together to pray for the United States and its leadership. Prayers are focused on the government, media, business, education, church, and family.
The event is a vital part of the nation's heritage. Since the first call to prayer in 1775 when the Continental Congress asked the colonies to pray for wisdom in forming a nation, the call to prayer has continued throughout America's history.
The Ellisville event was led by the Reverends Russell Cottingham and Eddie Bryant.
