PETAL, MS (WDAM) - Students and parents at Petal schools are being encouraged to help fellow students in tornado-ravaged areas of north Mississippi.
Thursday, they are being asked to bring monetary donations to school as part of Red Cross Donation Day.
The money will be given to the American Red Cross to assist families who were victims of last week's tornadoes in Monroe and Webster counties.
School superintendent John Buchanan says it's a good way to help people who helped the Petal area after Hurricane Katrina. He says it's also a good way to teach students to give back to their communities.
