Pride of the Pine Belt: Drum and Bugle Corps students

ELLISVILLE, MS. (WDAM) - Nathan Ball is a Jones County Junior College student from Seminary. He is getting prepared for his second year with the Forte Drum and Bugle Corps, which is based in Texas.

Ball said , "I'm excited, it's going to be fun."

Ball and his friends from JCJC and Jones County are among eight students from Mississippi selected to be part of the 95 member competitive band. They will rehearse and compete around the country with other similar groups this summer.

The Forte Drum and Bugle Corps is comprised of students ages fourteen through twenty one. Brooke Armstrong is a JCJC freshman and was accepted into the prestigious group.

"It's kind of like major league for marching band. That is the saying that they use," said Armstrong.

Armstrong hopes to learn improved marching, musical and leadership skills during her time with Forte this summer.

The Pine Belt students are traveling to Texas in June and they will stay there until August competing in the South and Midwest.
