District Attorney's Office teams with Pearl River Opportunities to help seniors

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The Forrest District Attorney's Office is teaming with Pearl River Opportunities, Inc. to help seniors in the Palmers Crossing Community.

Thursday morning the two teamed to pass out 400 boxes of food to qualifying seniors over the age of 60. The boxes contained many basic necessities like beans, canned goods, cereal, butter, and more.

Many of the workers at the distribution point are part of the 12th Circuit Court Community Service Program who are nonviolent offenders placed in the structured community service program instead of the state correction system.
