A Hattiesburg church is being considered for a large grant from the Pepsi Corporation. Bay Street Presbyterian Church is in the running for a $50,000 "Refresh Everythng" grant from Pepsi.
The money would be used to restore several stained-glass windows in the sanctuary that date back to the church's founding in 1907. Church members will find out May 1 if they are a finalist for the grant.
An on-line vote will determine if they receive the money.
"I think as folks are interested and excited about it and get on-line and vote for that project, that we have a real good opportunity, I think, to receive that funding and to move ahead with the restoration," said Brian Davis, pastor of Bay Street Presbyterian Church.
Davis says in 1907, ladies at the church raised money to buy the windows by selling ice cream.
