HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Mayor Johnny DuPree wants residents to join him as he kicks off Earth Day and the Great American Cleanup events in Town Square Park on April 20 from 10 a.m. til noon.
The day will start with remarks from Mayor DuPree and a declaration will be presented to the Hattiesburg Parks and Recreation Department for their efforts in hosting this event.
Part of the days events will include around 200 students from Rowan and Woodley Elementary Schools rotating through ten stations, each presenting a different environmental topic. The stations range from topics related to storm water pollution, litter awareness, energy conservation, water conservation, recycling, biking, animals, beautification, and urban forestry.
Town Square Park is located on the corner of Main and Buschman Streets in downtown Hattiesburg.
