Oak Grove student's project brings in big donation for AHA

LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

An Oak Grove High School senior presented a check for $1,520 to the American Heart Association Friday afternoon.

Kent McCarty raised the money March 12 during a ST. Patrick's Day 5K run at the Longleaf Trace in Hattiesburg.

More than 100 runners took part. The event was his senior project.

McCarty hopes his project will become an annual event.
