USM Japanese students concerned following aftershock

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Japanese students at USM were wearing their native garb and serving up some Japanese cuisine at the International Food Fair at the Baptist Student Union Thursday.

They said they had heard about the 7.4 earthquake that happened off Japan's northern coast earlier in the day.

All present said they were following the unfolding events carefully and were extremely concerned for their country.

"We couldn't sleep, we are very worried," said Risa Higashi. "Very worried, very, very worried" added Kanae Higashi.

All said they had spoken to family members earlier in the day and fortunately all were safe.
