Hattiesburg woman charged with felony child neglect

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Twenty year old Morgan Green of Hattiesburg was arrested Saturday and charged with felony child neglect.

Saturday morning at around 10:00 a.m. Hattiesburg police responded to a call at Turtle Creek Mall that an infant was locked in a vehicle with the windows up. When they arrived at the scene they found the child in the backseat secured to a car seat.

The Hattiesburg Fire Department was then called to assist with entry into the vehicle.

More than 40 minutes passed before the mother, Morgan Green was able to be located by police. She apparently had been inside the mall shopping.

The infant was checked out at the scene and found to be unharmed. She was then turned over to a relative.

Green was booked on one count of felony child neglect and is in the Lamar County Jail.
