Fire, explosion at Jones County oil facility

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Fire officials in Jones County report fires are now out at a Tellus Operating Group crude oil storage facility on Fannie Ellzey Road near Hwy 588.

Volunteer fire fighters are using heavy foam as part of ongoing suppression efforts. No one was hurt in the incident.

An explosion and fire were reported at the facility around 4 a.m. In total, of the seven tanks at the facility two caught fire. 

Authorities have not determined the cause of the fire and explosion, but at this hour fire investigators are near the site and waiting for an all clear to begin looking into the possible cause of the fire.
