HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The Jones County Sheriff's Department got a big thank you Tuesday.
Mike Gibson of Williams Gas Pipeline gave the Jones County Sheriff's Department $5,000 as a token of appreciation for the work the department and public information officer Lance Chancellor did during a recent natural gas leak incident in Covington County.
Sheriff, Alex Hodge says it was a pleasant surprise.
Certainly the donation was not expected, but it is certainly much appreciated. We will immediately put that in to use in buying some emergency vest for our deputies. Bullet proof vests," said Hodge.
Another person who was a big help during the gas leak was Ricky Graves, who works for the Sheriff's Department and for Williams Gas Pipeline.
