HATTIESBURG, MS. (WDAM)- Tuesday evening, Southern Miss announced a ten million dollar fundraising campaign to help build a new state of the art College of Business.
The new structure is set to be located by the university's Trent Lott Center facing Highway 49 South. The proposed ninety thousand square foot building has an estimated project cost of 33 million dollars.
Southern Miss received eleven million dollars in state bonds last year for the building and another fifteen million dollars in state bonds is being requested from the Mississippi Legislature for the project this year.
University officials said the new College of Business will be constructed entirely from state bonds and private donations, of which two million dollars has already been pledged.
Since the late 1960's the College of Business has been housed in Southern Miss's Joseph Greene Hall. No time table has been set for the start of construction on the new facility.
