Laurel/Ellisville rallies encourage prayer

ELLISVILLE, MS (WDAM) - Jones County residents gathered Thursday to pray for our state as part of a new initiative called, "Covering Mississippi in Prayer."

At rallies in both Ellisville and Laurel, residents asked for God's blessings and guidance and prayed that others will be committed to prayer. The rallies were 2 of 90 that have been held this spring across the state, organized by the Mississippi Baptist Convention.

"We're hoping today that in this prayer rally that people will hear the call to pray and that they will be challenged to pray and as a result of that, they'll covenant and be committed to pray," said Pastor Eddie Bryant of Tucker's Crossing Baptist Church.

There are about 10 more prayer rallies scheduled in Mississippi.
