Petal woman jailed for selling drugs to undercover officer

PETAL, MS (WDAM) - A Petal woman was jailed in Lamar County Wednesday, charged with attempting to sell prescription narcotics to an undercover police officer at a Hub City apartment complex. It happened in a parking lot at the Reserve at Park Place.

Hattiesburg Police say at about 1:30 p.m., Shannon Rouse, 41, was arrested allegedly trying to sell various types of prescription pain killers to an officer posing as a buyer.

Rouse has been charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.

"A citizen contacted the police department, letting us know that this individual had been going around town selling narcotics," said Sgt. Allen Murray of the Hattiesburg Police Department.

"The meeting was set up and she conducted her business here at this location and happened to be an undercover officer that she actually sold to," Murray said.

He said officers had been investigating Rouse for some time.
