HATTIESBURG, MS. (WDAM) - Congressman Steven Palazzo was in the Pine Belt Tuesday, visiting two of Southern Miss's well known educational centers for children.
Palazzo toured both the DuBard School for Language Disorders and the nearby Children's Center for Communication and Development. Both schools help kids with communication disorders improve their skills.
At the DuBard School, Palazzo was given a tour of the facility and even participated in a question and answer session with some of the students, who were eager to learn more about his work in Washington DC. The DuBard School educates about eighty children with speech and hearing disorders and prepares them for success in a regular classroom.
According to Palazzo, "It is tremendous, the teachers and the graduate assistants and the specialists. I mean it looks like they are so into what they are doing and the students are responding so well."
Palazzo is a two time a Southern Miss graduate, earning both his Bachelor and Master degrees from the university. However, he said this was the first time he had an opportunity to tour the DuBard School and learn more about their services .
