PURVIS, MS. (WDAM) - Hundreds of Pine Belt golfers showed their support for Mississippi's wounded soldiers Monday in Purvis.

The organization named, Wounded Minutemen, put together the day long tournament at Pine Creek golf course. This inaugural event aimed to raise funds for soldiers injured by enemy fire.

Four Mississippi soldiers, that were hurt while fighting for our country, were on hand for the fundraiser. Each one of them received checks for over two thousand, six hundred dollars.

Johnny Sellers helped organize the tournament and said soldiers can use the funds raised for any purpose.

Sellers said, "I mean some of them can't work right now, some of them just need money to pay bills, whatever they want to use it for, it's theirs."

The Wounded Minutemen of Mississippi organization hopes to raise a total of twenty thousand dollars during the tournament.
