HATTIESBURG, MS. (WDAM) - Fire Investigators in Hattiesburg are working this week to determine the cause of a destructive early Monday morning blaze that destroyed the West Fourth Street location of Mugshots bar and grill.

The state arson investigator, an investigator from Mugshots's insurance company and Hattiesburg fire officials were working all day Monday to clear debris and figure out what may have caused the inferno.

Fire officials said the blaze broke out just before 4:00 Monday morning and firefighters were working until 9:00am to extinguish any remaining hot spots. Once that happened, the case was turned over to investigators. Geneva Morgan is the Hattiesburg Fire Department's Public Information Officer.

According to Morgan, "It's like a reconstruction. You have to try to reconstruct it the best you can and just start from that point and try to figure out where it may have started from and with this much damage, it's going to take a little while."

Morgan said the investigation could take a week or longer.
