Dozens take "Great Strides" to fight Cystic Fibrosis

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Hundreds of people gathered at Southern Miss Saturday morning to help fight Cystic Fibrosis.

They took part in the 12th annual, "Great Strides Walk" at the Payne Center. The walk, held in conjunction with the annual Cystic Fibrosis Sports Challenge, raises money for research and to support the Cystic Fibrosis Care Center in Jackson.

Organizers say events like this are bringing them closer to finding a cure for the disease.

Cystic Fibrosis affects about 300 Mississippians and about 40,000 others across the country.
