HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - St. Patrick's Day may have come and gone and Columbus Day is still months away, but that didn't stop those with Irish or Italian heritage, or anyone else for that matter, from celebrating those 2 cultures in the Hub City today.
The annual Irish-Italian Festival at St. Thomas Catholic Church began with a parade down 4th Street. Lots of floats were featured, along with delegations from various veterans groups.
An authentic Irish band also played during the event, which was led by grand marshal and Forrest County Sheriff Billy McGee.
A Celtic mass took place after the parade and that was followed by food and other activities at the church.
