Local charity gets $1,250 from jewelry raffle

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - St. Patrick's Day has been lucky for one Hattiesburg woman and a local charity.

Lisa Malone of Hattiesburg won a diamond cross in a raffle for Christian Services, Inc.

The cross was donated by Light's Jewelers and Gemologists. Christian Services, Inc. is one of 12 charities being helped this year as part of the jeweler's 50th anniversary celebration.

"Of course, we can use all the money we get," said Bill Prout, executive director of Christian Services, Inc. "And this is a tremendous time right now in March (for funds) to come in, because our year-end proceeds are past," Prout said.

"We are thrilled to be part of supporting and endorsing the great work of Christian Services with the donation of this beautiful golden diamond cross," said Susan Light, co-owner of Light's Jewelers and Gemologists.

The raffle brought in $1,250 for Christian Services, Inc.
