Choctaws donate cash, police cars to Sandersville

SANDERSVILLE, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians has donated $50,000 and two police vehicles to the town of Sandersville where its Bok Homa Casino is located.

Tribal Miko Beasley Denson and Paul Harvey, president and CEO of Pearl River Resort, made the presentation Thursday to Sandersville Mayor Walter "Buzz" Jack, Police Chief Tony Hosey and Fire Chief John Bounds.

The Sandersville Police Department will receive $40,000 and the remaining $10,000 is earmarked for the Sandersville Volunteer Fire Department.

Two fully-equipped police cruisers were donated to local law enforcement along with more than $5,000 in equipment and accessories.

Denson says the donations reflect the tribe's philosophy of being good corporate citizens in local communities where they maintain operations.

The Bok Homa Casino opened in December with 300 employees.
