Murder Trial goes back to Lamar County Court

By Kelly Bryant – email | bio

A man convicted of murder in 2006 was back in Lamar County Court Wednesday. Shelton Myers, of Lumberton, is being re-tried on counts of murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The mistrial was announced in September after a Lamar County Circuit Court could not reach a unanimous verdict. Since the mistrial, Myers has remained in the Lamar County Jail without bond. He is accused in the shooting death of Roy Holder in 2006. Authorities say Holder was shot five times in Lumberton when he arrived to talk with Myers.
