Golfers to raise funds for wounded veterans

PURVIS, MS (WDAM) - Golfers in the Pine Belt are gathering to help wounded veterans in Mississippi.

They'll be participating in a golf tournament next Monday at the Pine Creek Golf Club in Purvis to benefit the Wounded Minutemen of Mississippi. That newly-formed organization is raising money to help Army and Air National Guardsmen who've been wounded overseas.

"Some of the guys that came back, they're permanently wounded," said Johnny Sellers, a board member of the Wounded Minutemen of Mississippi. "So, those guys we're really trying to support," Sellers said.

He said 200 players have signed up to take part in the tournament.
