PETAL, MS (WDAM) - A longtime Forrest County public servant, land developer and graduate of Petal schools has initiated a new fundraising effort to help that school system. Forrest County supervisor Lynn Cartlidge has donated a 3.38 acre lot in his North Fork Subdivision to be given away in a new raffle for the Petal Education Foundation.
Today, a ribbon was cut to kick-off ticket sales for that fundraiser, called the "Lucky" Lot Raffle. The drawing will be held during a Petal Education Foundation banquet on April 28th.
"I just felt that I could donate a lot and hopefully, raise some funds that would help the foundation," said Lynn Cartlidge.
"The whole idea is to raise money for operations and other needs that we have and we're just thrilled to death," said Leahne Lightsey, executive director of the Petal Education Foundation. "We have lots of tickets printed and we hope we sell every single one of them," Lightsey said.
Cartlidge is a 1949 graduate of Petal High School and was also a past president of the Board of Directors of the Petal Education Foundation.
