JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Jones County officials are preparing for a major flood after receiving nearly eight inches of rain Tuesday night.

Jones County's Emergency Management Director Don McKinnon says the county has not seen this much flooding in nearly 20 years.

Meanwhile, the National Weather Service is forecasting a major flood on the Tallahala Creek just east of Laurel. The river is expected to crest at 19.5 feet on Friday morning, which will pour high water into parts of east and south Laurel.
