HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A struggling economy hasn't kept homeowners and potential homebuyers away from an annual showcase of home designs and home products in Hattiesburg. Organizers of the 14th annual Home Design and Art Show say more than 2,000 people attended this year's event.
The 2011 show adopted a new name, to reflect a greater emphasis on interior design concepts and local art. It wrapped up Sunday, after 3 days at the Lake Terrace Convention Center.
"We try to change it, we try to morph it to fit the needs of the market, to fit what the people that came to the show this year tell us they'd like to see next year," said Lamar Evans, executive officer of the Greater Hattiesburg Homebuilders Association. "We also take a good look, a good, hard look at the economy, at the housing industry to see what's hot, what's not hot and we try to feature those products and services" Evans said.
Sunday was also the last day for folks to buy tickets for the upcoming Home Sweet Home Raffle to benefit the United Way.
The drawing for that home will happen live on WDAM-TV on March 14th.
