State gets involved with Collins apartment conditions

HATTIESBURG,MS (WDAM) -  Complaints of poor living conditions by tenants of a Covington County apartment complex has state officials stepping in.

The State Director of the USDA's Rural Development met with the tenants, site manager, and owner of Meadows Apartments in Collins Wednesday morning after complaints were filed by the tenants.

Some of the allegations were aimed at the conditions of the apartments, as well as mistreatment from the site manager. The USDA's Director said one complaint is a civil rights matter and was sent to Washington.

The director, apartment manager, and owner of Meadows Apartments declined to comment on camera. The owner also refused to let news seven on the property.
