Enid Lake Cleanup Day set for Feb. 26

VICKSBURG, MS (WDAM) - The 8th annual Enid Lake Cleanup Day will be held Feb. 26.

Volunteers interested in the cleanup will meet at Enid Lake's main office at 7:00 a.m. and will end at 11:30 a.m. for lunch.

Late arrivals are asked to check in with rangers located throughout the area.

Volunteers will collect trash and garbage that have accumulated on the shorelines and roadways of the lake.

All volunteers will receive a cap or T-shirt and a meal.  There will be prizes for a number of categories from most trash collected, to the weirdest and most interesting item collected.

Almost 300 volunteers participated in last year's cleanup. Eighty compacted cubic yards of trash and 84 tires were accumulated during the cleanup last year.

Following a school-record 55 wins and run that ended in an 8-7 loss in the NJCAA national championship, Jones County Junior College softball is eager to open the 2018 season on February 3. Coming that close to the school’s first national title serves as motivation enough for the Lady Bobcats. Regardless, expectations are always high for coach Chris Robinson’s teams – JCJC is a combined 105-12 the last two seasons.
