HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - A benefit was held at Sidelines in Oak Grove Sunday afternoon for Mike "Big Daddy" Chambliss.

Recently Chambliss was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. He has been a blues musician for years playing hundreds of venues across the Pine Belt.

The benefit featured a poker ride starting and finishing at Sidelines. Following the ride was an afternoon and evening of music at the bar.

Chambliss is so well respected and liked in the music community that several top Pine Belt musicians donated their time to perform at the benefit.

"I love Big Daddy man," said Kerry LaFan, benefit organizer. I'm a harmonica player and when I first started playing Big Daddy asked me up on stage and I told him I wasn't that good. He told me this is the only way you are going to learn. He was like that with so many people. he raised us and we love him for it."

100% of the proceeds from the benefit will go to help Chambliss and his family with their expenses.
