JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Jones County volunteer firefighters have quickly extinguished a fire at an oil well site in the southeastern part of the county. Officials say firefighters from Glade, M&M and Powers volunteer fire departments responded to a fire Friday night at the well head at the Crimson Exploration Company well site on Forest Road 201.
After a few minutes, the fire was put out.
No one was injured and the cause of the fire has not been determined.
Although the fire is out, fire officials say there is still an oil and gas leak at the site. We're told company officials and representatives of the Mississippi Oil and Gas Board will be investigating.
Fire officials say this was the 2nd fire at this oil well in the last 2 years.
