2 Perry firefighters injured in tanker wreck

BEAUMONT, MS (WDAM) - Two Perry County volunteer firefighters are in the hospital with serious injuries tonight, after the tanker truck they were riding in wrecked on a county road. It happened around 5 o'clock on River Road in Beaumont.

Beaumont fire officials say the 2 men from the Arlington Volunteer Fire Department were on their way to a fire call, when the driver lost control trying to avoid another vehicle. The tanker overturned and rolled several times, coming to rest in a ditch.

Both firefighters had to be extricated.

They were taken to a local hospital with injuries that we are told were not life-threatening.
