Dave Dennis stops in Columbia to campaign

MARION COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Republican Gubernatorial candidate Dave Dennis was on the campaign trail in Columbia Friday and a very familiar name in Mississippi politics was right by his side.

Dennis, is a commercial construction business owner from Pass Christian and says, he's decided to run for Governor because once Governor Barbour's term is up there will be a tremendous leadership void in the state.

Dennis says, education needs to remain a priority and Mississippi needs a leader who can create more jobs, by bringing more investors and businesses to the state.

"The difference that we bring is, I am a private business man, I make payroll every week. Dennis went on to say, "Governor Fordice announced his re-election at our house in 1995 and he said, don't ever run for a public office until you have signed the front side of a payroll check. I do that! This is going to be a race in the Republican primary between a career bureaucratic politician and a successful business and community leader."

Dennis and his family, have been on a 21 stop campaign tour across the state.

Joining them as Field Operations Manager is Jeppie Barbour, Governor Haley Barbour's brother.

Jeppie said, he believes Dave Dennis will do the most for Mississippians. "He's the guy who has the experience, and the intelligence to go in there and handle state government the way it should be handled. He is not a career politician , he is a business man who knows what he is doing."

Jeppie would not say if the entire Barbour family was supporting Dennis.
