LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -  Executive Director of the State Personnel Board, Lynn Fitch stopped in Jones County to announce her bid for State Treasurer.

Fitch continued her statewide campaign launch tour Tuesday at the Jones County court house. Fitch is a Republican candidate for State Treasurer and says her experience in her current position and past job as the Deputy Executive Director of External Affairs and Support Services gives voters a qualified candidate to vote for.

"I have over 25 years of professional experience both in the public and private sector. So, I also understand the legislative process. I understand how you handle a state agency. I understand financial times and hard choices, and what is critical and what has to be done. I understand that process. I think that I can certainly bring that expertise to the state treasurer's office," said Fitch.

Fitch's next stop on her campaign tour is Pascagoula.
