HATTIESBURG, MS. (WDAM) - The creators of Festival South want the public to get into the spirit of the event by participating in a best of the Pine Belt poll starting on Valentines Day.

The survey includes lots of categories like arts and entertainment, food, and shopping. Results from the survey will be announced at the start of Festival South this June and the winners will be featured in Signature magazine.

Festival South is a two week long music extravaganza in Hattiesburg that kicks off June fourth and features a variety of events. For 2011, organizers are also incorporating other art forms into the festival.

Event supporters said the "Best of the Pine Belt 2011" survey will help the public make informed choices when visiting the region. David Gustafson is the publisher of Signature magazine.

"Well those of us that live in the Pine Belt know how many wonderful businesses there are in the area and we work with them all year long and this is just a great way to showcase them as people from outside the area are coming in to attend the various musical events associated with the festival," said Gustafson.

To take part in the best of the Pine Belt poll, just log onto www.festivalsouth.org. You can vote as much as you would like.
