Hattiesburg Egyptian community celebrate Mubarak's resignation

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Several people from the local Egyptian community got together Sunday afternoon to celebrate President Hosni Mubarak's Resignation.

Mubarak stepped down Friday after 29 years in office. He had been under pressure to resign by protesters in the streets of Egypt for the past three weeks.

Those at the gathering were overjoyed at finally winning their freedom. They said they were optimistic about their countries' future and have great confidence in their new leadership.

"The army, we trust the army," said Mohammad Hassan, Egyptian Citizen. "They are starting to respond to all the questions from the people."

"Yeah we are comfortable with them," said Hanaa Achmed. The army we trust them very well."

Many at the gathering expressed no concern that radical elements would gain control in Egypt.
