Walthall supervisor struck and killed by car

WALTHALL CO. (WDAM) - A longtime Walthall County supervisor was killed Thursday morning after being struck by a car.

Wathall County Sheriff Dwayne Dillion says Travis Alford, 83,  was killed during the early morning hours on Sartinsville Road. The accident happened while Alford was trying to remove a tree that had fallen in the road. Authorities say the driver of the vehicle reportedly did not see the supervisor when he was struck.

Travis Alford served as supervisor in Wathall County for over 43 years. The accident is under investigation. Sheriff Dillon says no charges have been filed or are expected.
