Tim Ryan set to run for State Senate

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Local business man Tim Ryan announced Tuesday he will run for the State Senate seat in District 44.

Ryan, a registered Republican, said this is his first run in politics but his entire professional career has been based upon serving the public.

"This is an opportunity for me to do something that will impact the state of Mississippi and more importantly our region.

Ryan is a lifelong resident of Mississippi and began his professional career as Regional Manager for Bell South in Hattiesburg, where he worked for 15 years.  He later became Executive Director of The University of Southern Mississippi Foundation. Currently, he is a self employed Financial Advisor. If elected, one of his main is focuses will be to expand economic development opportunities in the Pine Belt and throughout the State. Ryan said in order to do that Mississippians must have a better education system.

"We have such great resources, natural resources and human resources here. I believe that education is vital to this state, workforce development as well as assisting the local K-12, Junior Colleges as well as the 2 Universities we have here. Those are great resources that we can continue to build on.

Tim Ryan is the first candidate to announce his campaign for current State Senator Tom King's seat.
