ACM salutes women of country music with TV special

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Academy of Country Music will honor Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, Reba McEntire, Jennifer Nettles and Carrie Underwood with a television tribute.

"Girl's Night Out: Superstar Women of Country" will be taped April 4 - the day after the ACM Awards - at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and will air later on CBS.

Each of the women honored has achieved special recognition from the academy and will be saluted with performances and other accolades. Performers and other honorees will be announced later.

The Monday after the awards has become a showcase for country music. Last year the ACM paid tribute to Brooks & Dunn and honored George Strait in 2009.
