African-American artist to be featured at LRMA

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - An exhibition of works from a nationally-known African-American painter, a display of art quilts and a local collection of antique toys will all be available for public view during a busy 2011 at the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art in Laurel.

An exhibition of paintings from Boston, Massachusetts-born artist Lois Mailou Jones this fall will highlight the 88th year at the museum.

2011 will also feature an art quilt show in the spring and during the summer, folks will be encouraged to share their antique toys for a new "Laurel Collects" series.

Currently, the museum is exhibiting a collection of photos of folk art in Mississippi and next Thursday, will host a folk art symposium.
