HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Now that Southern Miss is 100-years-old, USM president Dr. Martha Saunders is giving the local business community a look at what the university will be like in the next 100 years. Saunders addressed a gathering of business leaders at the first Area Development Partnership-sponsored, "First Friday" of 2011.
Saunders said USM is "trending up" in nearly every important area, including enrollment, graduation rates, external research funding and private giving.
"For this to happen is this economic climate is such a testimony to the people at Southern Miss and the hard work that they do, so we just want to keep it going," Saunders said.
Also today, Saunders debuted a new university recruiting video, which she will take with her as she visits high schools across the state beginning next week.
