HATTIESBURG, MS. (WDAM) - At the Turtle Creek Mall on Monday shoppers, like Anthony McRae of Waynesboro, were busy taking care of some essential business.

McRae said,"My daughter got all kinds of gift cards for Christmas so she is here spending her money."

Turtle Creek's General Manager, Bryan LeBlanc said the post Christmas mall scene has consisted of lots of shoppers taking advantage of big retail sales. He said there have been fewer returns and more gift card redemptions this year.

"We have had a great year this year and the Christmas season was no change. It was a positive year so I'm hoping we finish the year with a big bang," said LeBlanc.

In fact LeBlanc said it appears folks are more optimistic about the economy, which is drawing shoppers.

He said, "So you can take advantage of some good deals right now. You can get a lot of great products for a reasonable price."

For those folks who plan to hit the mall for some New Years Eve finery, officials said they'll be open from 10AM to 6PM Friday with the same hours in place for Saturday.
