Hub City Police clean-up home for Christmas

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Hattiesburg Police are doing more than keeping citizens' homes safe this holiday season. A few are actually volunteering to clean-up some of those homes. More than one dozen officers spent their off day today clearing away debris from a home on Singletary Drive.

The officers teamed up with members from a local community action organization to cut down some small trees, rake up leaves and remove tree limbs.

"It's great for community policing," said Lt. Dale Bounds of the Hattiesburg Police Department.

"It's something we're glad to do, come out here and help make their residence more presentable to them," said Lt. Ken Ross, also of the Hattiesburg Police Department.

This is the 5th year the officers have volunteered for this type of community project.
