HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The public got a chance to weigh in on how they feel nightclub violence should be handled in the Hub City.
A public hearing Tuesday night invited club owners and operators to voice their concerns and suggestions. A previous consideration of closing bars and clubs at midnight is no longer an option after an outpouring of opposition.
Some considerations tossed around were eliminating all you can drink specials, more police presence in parking lots, enforcing security ordinances and more responsibility to business owners.
The need for some type of change kicked off when three USM football players were shot outside of Remington's Hunt Club November 14.
A committee formed by the city's administration will now come up with proposals to present to the council.
