Newton to perform at Choctaw casino opening tonight

SANDERSVILLE, Miss. (AP) - Las Vegas entertainer Wayne Newton will perform at the Dec. 20 opening of the new Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians casino in Jones County.

The Bok Homa Casino will open at 11 a.m. at Bogue Homa Community just on the outskirts of Sandersville. The Laurel Leader-Call reports that Choctaws spokesman Warren Strain told county supervisors that Newton confirmed his appearance last week to the tribe.

The casino will have more than 700 slot machines and a quick-serve eatery. Strain says the casino will have two electronic Black Jack tables and one electronic roulette table. Strain says that the Choctaw Police Department will have a substation located at the casino. He said there will be armed officers in place for the safety of the customers.
